Reznor has spun myriad variations on his starkly propulsive sound an alloy of hard rock electronic dance music and industrial metal. His studio output has been prolific in recent years as has his touring schedule. But he has decided to put the band on indefinite hiatus: Sunday was the second date on the Wave Goodbye Tour which runs until.

Def Leppard Poison Cheap Trick
San Jose Mercury News
They intended to follow Pyromania quickly but were derailed when their drummer lost an arm in a car accident the first of many problems that plagued the group’s career. Def Leppard managed to pull through such tragedies and they even expanded their large audience with 1987′s blockbuster Hysteria. As the ’90s began mainstream hard rock shifted away from Leppard’s signature pop-metal and toward edgier louder bands yet the group maintained a sizable audience into the late ’90s and were one of only a handful of ’80s metal groups to survive the decade more or less intact. Def Leppard had their origins in a Sheffield-based group Rick Savage (bass) and Pete Willis (guitar) formed in their late teens in 1977. A few months later vocalist Joe Elliott a fanatic follower of Mott the Hoople and T. Rex joined the band bringing the name Deaf Leopard. After a spelling change the trio augmented by a now-forgotten drummer began playing local Sheffield pubs and within a year they had added guitarist Steve Clark as well as a new drummer.

The group has a reputation of having intense live shows full of shark-costumed stage-diving and inflatable beach balls ? and Massive Aggressive is the closest the band has come to capturing the live vibe. Songs like ?Divine Blasphemer? will have listeners fanatically fist-pumping and breaking out denim jackets loaded with old-school metal patches. The two-minute song is dripping with chugging guitars and even a brief melodic lead. Vocalist Tony Foresta is in top form on such songs as ?Wolves of Chernobyl? and the album?s title track which like the rest of the album feature repetitious shout-along choruses that beat (and beat and beat) into the listener?s head. The band?s lyrics and song titles are as clever as always ? as seen on the track ?Upside Down Church. ? The band recently received press attention for burning a miniature cardboard church on stage in Norway while playing the song.

Although he is about as mystified by metal as you seemed to be at the start of the article. David Rowell: Thank you for that. ne of the great experiences in reporting this piece was seeing how my own stereotypes fell so quickly apart.

Schafer’s love of metal didn’t quite stop there as he’s made it his quest to bring the genre to the masses: “[The game is] designed to be loved by metal fans and for those who are not it will either convert them or make their heads explode.

Little things sometimes mean a lot too. Zaun got to the clubhouse early on Sunday morning cranking up his brand of heavy metal music a strategy designed to inject some energy into the place either by the thump-thump-thump of the music’s rhythm or irritation with the Zaun-induced noise. Tampa Bay’s clubhouse can use more of the spark we saw in 2008 from guys such as Jonny Gomes Eric Hinske and Cliff Floyd. Zaun who is sharing the catching duties with Dioner Navarro brings some of that fire. Grand slams are a nice added bonus. “I really don’t have much trouble making friends” said Zaun who has two homers in his last three games including a solo shot on Friday night in his first home appearance with the Rays.
