com is highlighting “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone for accepting a role as Varg Vikernes in the upcoming film “Lords of Chaos. ” Unless you’ve been following the black metal scene for the past 20 years you may not know that Varg was the frontman for a Norwegian band called Burzum. He’s currently sitting in jail for the murder of Mayhem guitarist ystein Aarseth and is also responsible for the burning of three churches. The film is based off of the book by authors Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind. Director Sion Sono will be depicting the black metal culture of the 1990s which led to a series of gruesome murders and arson in Norway. Vikernes is not exactly pleased with the retelling of his exploits.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil’

While their determination may not be realistic – if fame hasn’t happened in three decades chances are it’s not going to – it is refreshingly infectious. “Anvil!” is less about music (it’s actually beside the point as not that much of it is heard in the movie) than the power of friendship through tough times and not letting the world beat the life out of you. By the end director Sacha Gervasi – one of the original Anvil fans from the ’80s – has turned Kudlow and Reiner from caricatures of music-industry desperation and woulda-coulda-shoulda hopelessness into characters worth rooting for. Liking heavy metal is not a prerequisite for enjoying this movie. But even metal-haters might find themselves headbanging to Anvil’s anthemic “Metal on Metal” and considering ordering some Anvil discs online. After all if the music doesn’t speak to you the dreams sure will. — ‘ANVIL! THE STRY F ANVIL’4 stars out of 5Unrated (strong language)90 minutes.

So it has really gone far with that. I try to stay up with what?s going on but I really can?t it?s too difficult. Metal music has grown so much. There are so many more sub-scenes going on. You?ve got death metal bands and then you?ve got whatever metal bands. In a way I think it?s good but for the new bands it must be a nightmare to try to come up and prove that you are something special. It has grown a lot that?s for sure.

Newswire Today (press release)
This hard hitting CD was released on March 1 2009 and has become an instant hit with fans both new and old. While the release is still fresh this album seems destined to go down as one of the greater works in this music genre. The music seems to seep into the soul due to a perfect combination of well written lyrics and intense Black Metal sounds.
