Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tucson something Coletti has been doing for close to 10 years. In addition for the past eight years he has played rock and heavy metal music and sung backup vocals with Blind Greed. Coletti who lives in Sahuarita describes this five-member group as a Metallica-style band that performs a lot of original music and a few cover tunes. Blind Greed — which includes Coletti on lead guitar Robert Fletcher on rhythm guitar Michael Bright on bass and Jim Casner on drums — will perform all-ages shows April 22 at the Pima County Fair and May 2 in a Voices for Children fundraiser at the The Rock in Tucson. That latter will mark the second time Blind Greed has played for Voices for Children benefiting the Southern Arizona Advocacy Center for abused and neglected children. A show last May at The Rock 136 N.

The sounds of Mideast heavy metal filled a small Los Angeles club which recently hosted the Turkish singer Kutsal and the Moroccan band Lazywall. Lazywall arrived in Los Angeles after performing at the South by Southwest festival in Austin Texas. n stage warming up with the group was a longhaired American musician and Mideast scholar Mark LeVine. LeVine teaches Middle East history at the University of California Irvine and is the author of a book called Heavy Metal Islam.

When it comes to bands I?d like to play live with or at least which I think I could survive some weeks on a band bus together with there are a few. Again who these might be time will tell. xFiruath: When you aren?t writing or playing music what bands and albums are you personally listening to the most these days? I am rather narrow minded and pre-judgmental when it comes to metal music. That is not a really big secret. I have been defending the faith since the 80’s and I do more or less listen to the same classics now as back then. Right now I am in a Judas Priest period. Déjà vu! Guess I just said so in another interview recently.
