Wigan and Reading given cold comfort
Telegraph.co.uk – Apr 28, 2008
Wigan striker Emile Heskey broke off an interview he was conducting to tell him to show greater respect with visiting defender Michael Duberry and home manager Steve Bruce also weighing in. Wigan’s own Watergate showed ironically how much the teams are feeling the heat. Wigan look relatively safe even allowing for the fact that they visit Aston Villa and host Manchester United final fixtures which Bruce as a former Birmingham manager and United captain described as “sod’s law”. If Birmingham fail to win at Fulham next weekend Wigan are assured a fourth season in the elite division.
Salvia Banned in Kansas

Must each grieving parent turn their child’s death into some noble crusade against people’s own choices? I sympathize with your loss but if you’re too ignorant to believe that your child had emotional problems which led to substance abuse not vice versa I doubt your capacity to raise children in the first place. Posted by anonymous on 07 May 08 10:54 AM EDT While we’re at it we should ban heavy metal music as well because let’ remember heavy metal causes kids to commit suicide as well. And just to be safe we should pass a law making it mandatory for all teens to take antidepressants since we all know antidepressants don’t lead to an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior. Just ask the pharmaceutical companies.
Transcend T.sonic 850 4 GB Music Player

sonic 850 actually goes a step back. sonic 840 was a metal-body player with a three-way jog dial at the side this latest model returns to the original plastic shell and has a traditional 5-way D-pad below the screen… You can’t multi-task on this player; for instance the player won’t allow you to view a text file or a slideshow of photographs and play music at the same time. This is a hangover from the last model — I’d observed this in the 840 too.
Music festivals: the best of the rest
Telegraph.co.uk – Apr 28, 2008
Pinkpop Festival Landgraaf May 30-June 1 Pinkpop annual rock festival is held on Whitsun weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch hence the name) in Landgraaf 134 miles from Amsterdam. Pinkpop is in Guinness World Records as the longest-running music festival in the world the first being held in 1970. Like Glastonbury Pinkpop has the unfortunate knack of being wet and muddy but this doesn’t stop the outlandish Dutch from letting their hair down. The huge open-air event which is attended by a 60000-strong crowd includes about 40 bands spread over four stages. This year the line-up includes Foo Fighters Queens f The Stone Age and Rage Against The Machine… They are held simultaneously at the Nürburgring racetrack and the Frankestadion in Nuremberg. The emphasis is purely on the music and with few other attractions to distract you this is what you get. With a line-up that includes Metallica Motorhead and The Manic Street Preachers what else do you need (except for ear plugs)? It’s loud heavy and German.
Grand Theft Auto IV: Dystopian Liberty City – New York Times
New York Times – Apr 28, 2008
There is no Yankee Stadium but there is a professional baseball team known with the deliciousness typical of the game’s winks and nods as the Swingers. At least as impressive as the city’s virtual topography is the range of the game’s audio and music production delivered through an entire dial’s worth of radio stations available in almost any of the dozens of different cars trucks and motorcycles a player can steal. From the jazz channel (billed as “music from when America was cool”) through the salsa alt-rock jazz metal and multiple reggae and hip-hop stations Lazlow Jones Ivan Pavlovich and the rest of Rockstar’s audio team demonstrate a musical erudition beyond anything heard before in a video game. The biggest problem with the game’s extensive subway system is that there’s no music underground. (Too bad there are no iPods to nab. )The game’s roster of radio hosts runs from.

You know most artists have to be in a very narrow field coming in. And I was able to do whatever that I wanted to do. I did a Prince cover I did a heavy-metal song I did rap. At a certain point all music can’t be about everybody getting shot… At a certain point all music can’t be about everybody getting shot. There’d have to be something else. So you know we brought a little of the something else.
