“If you are interested in Israel and you live overseas your exposure to Israeli culture will be severely limited” explains Richter. “But there’s a whole scene here. You can find Israeli drum and bass DJs and Israeli death metal bands. So a kid in Brazil who might think Israeli music is just the hora may even learn about Israeli bands making Brazilian music. In the end “We’re showing the world the talent that Israel has to offer – above and beyond the usual conceptualizations of what Israeli culture is” says Richter. “The whole point of the site is to represent Israel as democratically as possible and in a way that’s not connected to politics religion and organizations. We want to keep it as open as possible and reflect the clearest view of Israel – to show exactly what’s happening no more and no less.

The new edition of the nearly 12-year-old LP — the one with the shaggy-haired dog on the cover — has more than twice as many tracks as the original including unreleased session tunes produced by the Dust Brothers; rare remixes by UNKLE Aphex Twin and Mickey P. ; and B-sides galore including a Spanish-language version of “Jackass” recorded with a mariachi band. The deluxe reissue is a cause for celebration indeed… The band has also made 15-second animated trailers hyping the comics. Voices of Protest: As far as sophomore metal releases go Bullet are up against Protest the Hero this week. The Whitby ntario quintet divided their Fortress into two movements “n Conquest and Capture” and “Isosceles” — try to wrap your head around that while you’re headbanging. “It’s really a look at past present and future through the battles that have been fought and are being fought and supposedly will be fought” singer Rody Walker. Vintage Country: Lost Highway Records has a big week with the release of Shelby Lynne’s Just a Little Lovin’ and Willie Nelson’s Moment of Forever.

Part of the reason critics had welcomed Springsteen so enthusiastically in 1975 was that he seemed a return to basic rock & roll values in a world of soft rock heavy metal and art rock. Similar sounding heartland rockers such as Bob Seger had appeared so that Springsteen sounded less like an innovator than a member of an established genre. Nevertheless he set about winning fans with an album that found the lost children of his early albums stuck in factory jobs still longing for some escape. The album was a hit though it did not match the success of Born to Run… Live in Dublin featuring concert tracks done on the tour supporting the Seeger project was released on both CD and DVD in 2007. If I asked for “Michelle My Belle” as sung by Paul McCartney most of you could do that too. We are all to some extent human jukeboxes able to program for pleasure and for reference. And while music sometimes sticks around longer than we would like — like a hit tune or an advertising jingle — for the most part we control what’s inside our heads. This story however describes what can happen when a person loses control. For some people the music comes unbidden sticks around makes too much noise and won’t go away. (not her real name) is a patient of the well-known author and neurologist Dr… Sacks suggested not hearing triggered the music inside Cheryl. Three Intriguing QuestionsFirst where do these musical hallucinations come from? Why “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore”? Why the cars crashing? Why does an amateur sailor tell us (he’s in the Morning Edition broadcast) he heard a heavy metal guitar solo when he hates heavy metal? Why an intricate bagpipe tune when he has no special knowledge or fondness for bagpipes?Who is choosing these sounds? bviously the brain got them from somewhere. r maybe the brain is making them up from scattered parts creating its own montage? r are they memories? Right now it is fair to say nobody really knows. When I asked Sacks if he thought the music was entirely accidental all random he scoffingly quoted his friend the poet W. Auden “random my bottom!” There is some method here but that’s still a mystery.

“Scream Aim Fire” was produced by Colin Richardson (Machinehead Funeral For A Friend) who also produced “The Poison” and was recorded at Sonic Ranch near El Paso TX earlier this year.
