A down year still yields plenty of power and exhilaration for…
Village Voice – Dec 25, 2007
Former ’60s firebrand Jacques Coursil returned with his second comeback disc Clameurs a study for solo trumpet and synth strings plus highly political spoken-word texts by Frantz Fanon and others. The track titles on ther Dimensions in Music’s double disc Live at the Sunset occasionally overdosed on politics—”Blues for Baghdad” “New Millennium Chaos (The Bush Reign of Terror)”—but the breathtaking hard-swinging interplay between trumpeter Roy Campbell saxophonist Daniel Carter bassist Parker and Hamid Drake on drums was the selling point. f course the reissue of the year was Miles Davis’s Complete “n the Corner” Sessions but nobody should ignore Andrew Hill’s churning furious Compulsion or Noah Howard’s legendary too-long-gone The Black Ark both of which reappeared this year. As did Borbetomagus’s Live in Allentown a masterpiece of rip-roaring free-skree-plus-electronics that I couldn’t vote for in the poll because an encomium I published in The Wire was borrowed by the band for the liner notes.

The Gauntlet: Middian Metal News
The Gauntlet – Dec 25, 2007
By right of actual usage worlwide the name Middian is ours. Regardless of that we have no choice but to fight and defend ourselves in court. We intend to strip them of their trademark and deny them their unfair demands of money and of our music. We’re humbly asking for YUR help. Spread the word far and wide to wherever you can. If you can afford it please donate some money to our defense fund. We’re going to have a lot of legal fees and we’re simply not in a position to pay for it by ourselves… We’re going to have a lot of legal fees and we’re simply not in a position to pay for it by ourselves. We would like to thank everyone that has sent us messages. The underground metal community’s love has simply been overwhelming. With your help and support Middian will stand triumphant against this truly evil attack on our persons and families. Date: Dec 25 2007As Reported by: jason Tags:.

Rootz Underground hits with Hammer
Jamaica bserver – Dec 25, 2007
Hammer was shot in an inconspicuous metal shop on Dunrobin Avenue in Kingston Jamaica. The idea for the video was conceptualised by the band and Los Angeles-based Argentinean video director Luciano Blotta who also directed the Victims of the System video. Hammer’s video begins as sparks fly in the metal shop with Rootz Underground music playing in the background on an old radio. The band decked out in overalls is hard at work hammering metals – symbols of oppression and modern brainwashing. The hammer symbolises the music with which Rootz conquers these symbols of Babylon. “We made the video gritty and hard edge. A lot of our fans are rock fans and we wanted a rock-like video.

ne last thing that troubled me is that when you purchase the song “Go That Far” by the Bret Michaels Band in the song store the summary info says that Bret Michaels animated himself into the game and while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have him rocking the mic on the PS2 and Wii it’s still the wide-mouthed messy-haired lead singer that appears in most other songs (save the few sung by women). The drummer also looks and moves like a robot on Prozac. Since this is a music game obviously the most important aspect should be the audio. While I feel most of the best Guitar Hero songs were used in GH1 & 2 there is still a nice selection of songs to play. From classics like “Paint it Black” and “Talk Dirty to Me” to new mainstream rock like “3′s and 7′s” and “The Metal” there are sure to be at least a few songs everyone will enjoy. Unfortunately with such variation only a few songs will be truly enjoyable to each fan. Some songs just don’t feel right and there are a few that are just not rockin’ enough… Since this is a music game obviously the most important aspect should be the audio. There are a lot of songs and even more that you can unlock by buying them in-game with money earned in the game by doing well in songs. There are over seventy new songs and 70% of them are master tracks instead of covers as in past titles.
