Halcyon days for Elledanceworks
Dallas Morning News – Oct 22, 2007
In jeans and brown shirts six women leapfrogged and fell or rotated with fingers pointed to the air. “Zoetic” performed by five dancers from Collin Dance Ensemble was all angles and abrupt movement a little like setting five pistons loose. The heavy-metal music by Static-X added to the slightly frantic air. “Twang” set to the music of Patsy Cline was sunny and robust a frolic for four women in brown peasant dresses dancing with sheer happiness. That rough-on-the-edges style disappeared altogether in the other three works all of which fit into the category of “pretty. “”Jade” which opened the program and “Legacies & Prophecies” which closed it – with “Lifetides” sandwiched in between – gave us a gentler more feminine side of Elledanceworks not afraid to embrace the pretty. “Jade” featured four dancers in silky purple dresses their skirts slit like panels the better to fling out with every leap.

And I know it’s a bit long but couldn’t.

The way heavy music is going now a lot of them can be achieved. So to get a record deal was a dream come true to be able to put out more than one disc is a dream come true. We have gotten further than most bands who start out in the garage or the basement.
