… ChthoniC stand up for their land with blasts of black metal…
Montreal Mirror – Sep 26, 2007
“The hena is a common traditional instrument in Taiwan. What is special about it is its plaintive sad tone. “I don’t feel any challenges in writing music that mixes metal and Taiwanese principles we just write songs naturally. Maybe it’s because I appreciate metal and old Taiwanese folk songs as well and these different music styles are naturally mixed in my mind and heart. But we do have technical problems on the stage. The uniqueness of the hena comes from the resonation of snake’s skin and the wooden box but it’s not as loud as the other electric rock instruments like guitar or drums. Seasoned soundmen know where this is going”loud feedback noisy sound on the stage.

Sometimes I’m not sure what I’d prefer. Pitchfork: I’m interested in how you progressed from your early days to your current sound. What sort of aesthetic did you pull from for Shadows of the Sun? Chamber music but what else? What contemporary metal and non-metal groups do you enjoy? I hear church music– even the Beach Boys. I hear you studied classical composers for it. There’s this general soft white noise sounds filtering throughout– and horns. KGR: There’s no specific aesthetic other than a sense of the beautiful itself I suppose.

In the fierce competition among death-metal bands to make music more dense and bludgeoning (or "brutal" in the genre's lingo) and lyrics more sickening Cannibal Corpse always managed to come out on top with its oft-banned gory cover art the cherry on top of the maggot-infested sundae. Along with its debut 1991's Butchered at Birth and the unparalleled extremity of 1992's Tomb of the Mutilated (featuring such tracks as "Entrails Ripped from a Virgin's Cunt" and "Hammer Smashed Face") established the group as a trailblazer in its gross-out niche. Black Dahlia Murder the Red Chord the Absence and Goatwhore open when the band comes to the House of Blues (308 Euclid Ave.

And last week the results came in with West the undisputed victor (see. But who’d come out on top after week two? Would West’s sales continue to eclipse 50’s or would the tables turn resulting in a come-from-behind coup?Well neither ended up being the case and the results stayed pretty much the same: Sales of Graduation were significantly stronger than those generated by Curtis and interest in both sets waned… claims the #113 spot with just over 6000 copies grabbed up.
