SUNDING FF: Fire Fest bringing death to town

The lineup has gotten a big boost from last year’s promising start with the Thursday show featuring German death metal savants Necrophagist teched-out Polish brutes Decapitated progressive Colorado grind misfits Cephalic Carnage and others. n Monday the show is headlined by eccentric battering ram Horse The Band along with xBishopx Belay My Last and 20 other acts. “We have everything from Christian bands to death metal bands” says Fire Fest promoter Quinn Bott a scene fixture who got his start in local music circles running sound at venues like the Rock N Java and the Leatherneck Club. “It’s an ironic mix that really makes things fun. It’s positive music for the sake of music having a good time and keeping the scene alive. To that end Fire Fest has spotlighted Vegas bands heavily and this year the fest boasts such local heavy-hitters as Misericordiam Guttural Secrete a reunited Beatrix Kiddo She Turned Us Into Trees! and Hollis Hurst to name a few. “The fest is awesome for our town especially because there are a lot of bands playing that everyone wants to see but rarely come out here” says Misericordiam guitarist Kody.

Happy Mother's Day mum. From Kartina bte Rosli :No not because she is into heavy metal music like Led Zepellin and Sepultura. In fact she was against me listening to those type of music in my younger days. She said it was NISY. But despite the fact that she did not favour me listening to hard rock music Mum allowed me to explore into things that I love – and not only that – but to learn what is right and what is not and of course eventually what suits me as an individual. So imagine her relief when I am NT into Sepultura anymore but went into writing as a living.

And now Exodus Kreator Slayer Children f Bodom havestruck a chord with the heavy metal listeners with their new genre of musiccomprising thrash black death and hardcore metal. SaysGaurav Kukerty guitarist of Prozac a heavy metal band “People are opening upto heavier genres of music. A year back classic and old school rock werepredominant. When we played originals and covers of Megadeath and Judas Priestaround six years back around 100 people turned out. ” Though there was a keeninterest among metal lovers for bands like Iron Maiden Metallica Megadeathand the likes of Bhayanak Maut and Demonic Resurrection Gen-Y wanted somethingmore.

For these adult stars and many tattoo aficionados the blending of sex and tattoos is a fantasy come true as director Zane criss-crosses the fine line between pleasure and pain. “(The Hustler event) is going to be a great way to kick off this series” said Zane adding that the second installment of Tattooed & Tight will feature even more tattoos and hardcore action with some of adult’s hottest stars. Along with Tera the movie introduces Riley Paige and features Reagan Reese Lexi Bardot Kate Frost Mark Zane Lee Stone Jenner and Rick Masters.

Where are the tight leather trousers motorbike chains fake blood caged dancers and fire breathing skulls? Into this dire breach steps Marilyn Manson the only artist I can think of who’s truly picked up the torch from zzy sbourne Gene Simmons and Alice Cooper. Camp theatrics Manson’s freak show arrived at the Manchester Central on a rainy Thursday night. And what a show it was with just the right amount of camp theatrics – keeping the main focus on the music. The controversial singer performed one track while wriggling on top of an oversized wooden chair – bending and twisting his skinny torso like an olympic gymnast. For another he was carried aloft on a hydraulic platform while glitter cannons fired into the excitable crowd. Manson’s best songs are surprisingly catchy and even poppy. Heart-Shaped Glasses is like Britney Spears given an industrialized makeover while Disposable Teens has a stomping Adam And The Ants style drum beat.

ur students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are self-taught others have been classically or formally trained others are only interested in the production side. What unites them is a love of music. Broadly speaking they fall into three camps: the metal kids the dance kids and the hip-hop kids. Musical genres are pretty irrelevant for this course. As far as I’m concerned a musician is a musician. I think the students respect the fact I’m still an active writer and performer.
