Feeling Icky?: The Stripes slip out their sixth album Icky Thump mere weeks before their 10th birthday — and they’ve busted out bagpipes a mariachi trumpet church organ and more wacky instruments for the occasion… · Lightning Dust: A minimalist project featuring two guys from groovy psych-rockers Black Mountain. Their self-titled debut was partially recorded in a cave yo. · Will Haven: This Sacramento California metal band played for a few years then broke up in January 2002 then regrouped in ctober 2005. Their new album The Hierophant was co-produced by Deftones’ Chino Moreno and ex-Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. · Savath & Savalas: Another alias belonging to underground hip-hop producer Guillermo Scott Herren who you probably best know as Prefuse 73. addEntry({} {button:true} );Guitarist Kerry King can’t even remember the last time his band — the iconic speed-metal maelstrom that is Slayer — played a gig it didn’t close out. That’s because with more than 25 years in the business Slayer have been a headlining act for quite some time. When Slayer take the stage no one else follows. r at least that’s the way things were before the band decided to team up with Marilyn Manson. Slayer’s summer co-headlining run with Manson is set to kick off July 25 in West Palm Beach Florida and will hit 25 cities before concluding September 1 in San Antonio (see.

Pearl Jam’s debut Ten outsold Nirvana’s Nevermind and for a while Eddie Vedder their lead singer tried to carry the woes of millions of alienated teenagers. But it was was never going to be an easy reign being crowned America’s kings of angsty rock. Guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament’s former band Green River were grunge trailblazers but Gossard and Ament never equivocated about their heretical (to grunge purists) devotion to glam metal and bands such as Aerosmith. As a result Pearl Jam were derided by Cobain and British music press. Stunned by Cobain’s suicide the band went about dismantling a mega-successful career in a hand-ringing bid to prove their punk-rock integrity. They made a good fist of it too. They refused to make music videos release singles or do interviews.
